EPA issued Environmental Protection Orders (EPO) to different units in Peshawar district. Later on, the inspection team of this agency visited the units for EPO compliance, but lamentably, all the units were found in non-compliance. Due to the enactment of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Environmental Protection Act (KPEPA) 2014, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Environmental Protection Tribunal is not yet functional. Therefore, Deputy Commissioner Peshawar was intimated to take legal action against violators under section 17 of KPEPA, 2014. Deputy Commissioner Peshawar did not entertain the request of EPA regarding EPOs compliance. Moreover, a petition was filed in Peshawar High Court against the Provincial government regarding high level of pollution in district Peshawar. In the light of petition Deputy Commissioner Peshawar was directed to take legal action against the cases submitted by EPA.Therefore, a joint operation is initiated against the violators for EPO compliances from 27th April, 2017. The operation team includes both EPA and district administration officials.
